The Hartselle Parks & Rec Baseball Program was established to provide the children in the Hartselle community with an opportunity to play baseball together.
The goal of the Hartselle Parks & Rec Baseball Program is to provide a program where kids can learn the fundamentals of baseball, have FUN, and learn to compete in a TEAM environment. We provide a spring baseball league.
The spring league is currently for ages 5-18. Hartselle Parks & Rec Baseball is affiliated with the AAYS Softball organization (https://allamericanyouthsports.org). The age cut-off date for this season is Sept. 1, 2024.
The spring baseball season begins in early February with evaluations in each age group other than T-ball. Coaches are selected, teams are drafted, parents are notified, and practice usually begins in mid-February. Teams will have up to 2 practices per week until the games begin. In most age groups, teams will play 2 games per week: on Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday. The season usually ends just prior to the Memorial Day holiday.
COACHES
All coaches in Hartselle Parks and Recreation’s athletic programs are volunteers who are certified through the CoachSafely Foundation (every two years). Coaches should have a basic knowledge of the sport they coach.
A philosophy of participation, fun, sportsmanship and fundamentals of the sports are stressed to the coaches.
Coaches are asked to complete a basic application/information form prior to their selection. Potential head coaches are subject to a criminal background check (every year).
