Fall Events 2015
Dale Serrano Dance: Boys and girls ages 2 1/2 and older may register for this class to learn tap, jazz, ballet and hip hop dance. Give your children the opportunity to learn from an award winning dance professional in a family environment. Dale Serrano Dance strives to supply children not only with the foundation of dance but with the tools for life. Classes meet on Monday and Tuesday afternoons. Classes will begin on August 10. Violin: Students must have completed Fun with Violins, Huntsville Symphony Orchestra’s School Violin Class or have permission of the director to enroll. This class is a continuation of the 3rd grade program with focus on beginning tone production, consecutive fingering, separate bowing and introduction to note reading. Baton: Kim Ellis Robertson will be instructing girls the basics of twirling, basic strut and dance twirl. Kim is listed in the Who’s Who of Baton Twirling. She is a former NBTA champion with over 100 twirling awards. Give your daughter the opportunity to learn from her on Thursday afternoons beginning on September 10. Classes will begin at 3:30pm. The monthly fee is $45 per student. This class is open to girls ages 5 and older.
Junior JMK Martial Arts and Fitness: This is a complete martial arts program that is designed for kids ages 5-14. Li’l Kubs class is for ages 5-7 and will teach beginner martial arts skills. Kid Kubs class is for ages 8-10 and will teach more involved martial arts techniques, skill development, light sparring and grappling. Junior Kubs class is for ages 11-14 and is focused on martial arts, discipline development, intermediate techniques, sparring, grappling and fun competition. Classes will be on Thursdays beginning September 10. Li’l Kubs will meet from 6:30PM-7PM. Kid Kubs will meet from 7:00PM-7:30PM and Junior Kubs will meet from 7:30PM-8PM. There is limited space available so register early. The fee is $39 per month. There is a family package (for up to 4 people) for $115 per month.
Adult JMK Martial Arts and Fitness: This is a complete martial arts program designed for men and women ages 15 and older. The White Tiger JMK class will teach authentic, complete Kong Soo Sul (Karate-Jitsu) self defense and combative training with strikes, throws, takedowns, joint locks and submissive grappling. Physical conditioning, health and fitness are also huge parts of this program. The fee is $49 per month and classes will be held on Tuesdays at 6:30PM and Thursdays at 8PM beginning on September 8. There is a family package (for up to 4 people) for $115 per month.
Aerobics- Ladies, join Mellonie Chappell on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays from 8AM-9AM for a fun, upbeat aerobics class. The fee is $25 per month or $5 per visit.
Tumbling: Mellonie Chappell will be teaching children the basic of tumbling on Thursday afternoons. Students ages 4-7 will attend class from 3:30PM-4:30PM and ages 8 and older is 4:30PM-5:30PM. The class fee is $40 per month and must be paid in the front office at the civic center. Classes will begin on September 10.
Cardio Dance: This class combines traditional aerobic routines with dance-based choreography. The class will be on Monday and Thursday at 6:15PM beginning September 10. The instructor is Mellonie Chappell and the fee is $5 per class. Please pay the fee in the office at the civic center.
Yoga: Yoga is the process of becoming more aware of who we are. Yoga techniques facilitate balance and health. It also allows us to be more aware of ourselves and be more connected. Mellonie Chappell will be instructing these classes on Monday nights at 7:15PM beginning Monday, September 14. The fee is $5 per class.

Senior Nutrition Center: Also known as the Hartselle Senior Center is the place for friendly visiting, serious Rook and Canasta, a loud game of Texas spinner dominos, sing-a-longs, informative chats and so much more. We operate from 8AM-1PM Monday through Friday and have been known to jump on an evening supper bus now and then. Registered participants are welcome to stay for lunch provided by the Commission on Aging. Need a ride? We can provide that, too! Call Dan Price at 256-773-0786.
Hartselle Girls Basketball Registration: Girls ages 7-12 may register for girls youth basketball league September 7-25. Registration will be Monday – Thursday from 8PM-8PM and Friday from 8AM-4PM at the civic center. The fee is $70 per player. This league will play with the Morgan County league. Some games will be played in other cities in Morgan County. The birthday cut off is September 1. If your child did not play here last year you must bring a copy of your child’s birth certificate.
5/6 Year Old Coed Basketball League: Boys and girls ages 5 and 6 may register for coed basketball September 7-25. Registration will be Monday –Thursday from 8PM-8PM and Friday from 8AM-4PM at the civic center. The fee is $70 per player. This league will play with the Morgan County league. Some games will be played in other cities in Morgan County. The birthday cut off is September 1. If your child has not played here before you will need to bring a copy of your child’s birth certificate.
Hartselle Boys Youth Basketball: Boys ages 6-14 may register for basketball on October 6, 13, 20 or 27 from 6PM-8PM at the civic center. The fee is $65 per player. The birthday cut off is September 1. All games will be played at Sparkman Civic Center. If your child did not play in this league last year you must bring a copy of your child’s birth certificate when you register.
Cake Decorating: Erin Mashak, owner of Graceful Cakes, will be instructing a specialty cake class. The class is $30 per person and you will take home a completed cake after each class. Classes will meet at the civic center from 6PM-8PM. On September 10th or 24th you will decorate an Alabama or Auburn team cake. You must register and pay no later than September 7. On October 8th or 22nd you will decorate a pumpkin, ghost or leaf cake. You must register and pay no later than October 5. On November 5th or 19th you will decorate a Santa, Christmas tree or snowman cake. You must register and pay no later than November 2.
Painting Parties: Join us for a night of fun and creativity! Each project is $15. Classes are from 6PM-9PM at the civic center. On September 22 we will paint a shot gun shell, an owl or a pumpkin topiary. You must register by September 17. On October 13 we will paint a spider web, pumpkin truck or skeleton head. You must register by October 8. On November 10 we will paint a turkey, a leaf or a welcome plaque. You must register by November 5.
Private Painting Parties: Looking for a great girl’s night out idea?? Let us host a private painting party for you!! You may select any 3 door hanger designs and we will have templates waiting for you and your guests to paint the night of your party. The fee is $20 per person which will include all supplies needed to complete your projects and light refreshments for all of your guests. You must have a minimum of 6 participants. Participants must be at least 18 years old unless they are accompanied by a participating adult. Be sure to schedule your party in advance. Parties can be held Monday-Friday at 6PM or Saturday at 10AM.
Rummage Sale: Clear your house of clutter and earn a little money at the same time by participating at the rummage sale. The sale will be November 6 & 7 at 7AM. Sellers may begin registering on October 5 at 7:30AM. Booth rental is $20 for both days. NO ONE DAY SELLERS!! All sellers must be registered by November 2. Be sure to register early. Limited space is available.
Crafty Kids: Boys and girls ages 3-5 are invited to join us for a morning of fun and festivities. Each week we will read a story with themed crafts and snack. The class will be every Wednesday from 9AM-11AM beginning September 2. The fee is $5 per week and must be paid no later than the Monday prior to the week you plan to attend. Parents are welcome to stay with your child but it is not required.
Manic Monday: Looking for something for your child to do during fall break?? Manic Monday is a great opportunity for kids ages 9-12 to spend the day having fun! We will make crafts, play games, and have a talent show and more. Manic Monday will be October 12 from 9AM-12:30PM. The fee is $15 per child. You must pay and register no later than October 6.
Kids in the Kitchen: Kids, ages 9-12, will learn simple meal preparation and utensil recognition. We will prepare breakfast, dinner and dessert during this class. This class will be October 13 from 9AM-Noon. The fee is $15 per person. Please register and pay no later than October 6.
Family Camp Out: It’s time for adventure in the great outdoors! Please join us for camping, games and more on October 24 beginning at 6PM. Bring a tent to the pavilion area and prepare for an evening of family fun. The fee is $20 per tent. This fee includes supper, s’mores and breakfast. Each family must have at least one adult present for the entire event. Please register and pay the fee no later than October 19. Please note that this is an overnight event. There are no water or electrical hook ups. Pavilion restrooms will be open for your use.
Birthday Bash- Tired of spending hours, days or even weeks planning your child’s birthday party?? For only $100 we will do the all the work for you. The fee includes a party room, themed invitations, simple decorations, paper goods, goody bags, activities and two party coordinators. All you supply is the cake and refreshments. All fees must be paid at least one week prior to your party. The fee covers up to 12 children ages 5 and older. Additional children will be $5 each. Parties can be held Monday- Friday 6PM-8PM or Saturday from 10AM-Noon. Many themes are available. Call in advance to check availability
